The power of the evil eye has to do with negative energy. In fact, giving power and energy to the evil eye gives it more energy.
We’re going to discuss common symptoms of the evil eye, but a few are headaches, bad luck and feeling light headed.
This post is all about evil eye symptoms you need to know about so you can protect yourself.
What is Evil Eye?
The evil eye is a type of curse that someone can send you when they are jealous of you or gossiping about you.
It’s a popular belief in Greek culture that the evil eye comes from someone who has an “evil eye.” Greeks call it a “kako mati” which means “bad eye.”
Not all people have a kako mati.
Some people may be jealous of you, or gossiping but you won’t get the evil eye from them.
To get the evil eye, the person sending it to you must have the evil eye themselves.
You can tell if someone has it because they stare at you with a glare. It looks as if they’re squinting all the time.
It feels discerning and judgmental.
The influence of the evil eye has to do with bad energy sent your way.
When someone sends negative energies your way, it can cause physical symptoms.
As an empathic being, you feel this energy.
Before you assume you’re sick, first make sure you don’t have the evil eye. The symptoms can mimic one another.
We’ll discuss symptoms of evil eye throughout this post.
8 Evil Eye Symptoms and Signs
The evil eye can be difficult to pinpoint. It is easy to say that any stroke of bad luck is the evil eye but it isn’t so.
The evil eye feels a certain way when you’re afflicted with it.
It seems like something has happened for no clear reason.
Greek people have a prayer we say over someone who may have the evil eye.
If the person saying the prayer starts yawning, it means they are clearing the evil eye for that person.
My aunt also uses a ritual with olive oil and water to determine if someone has the evil eye.
Protecting yourself with various amulets is one way to prevent evil eye affliction.
It’s important to remember that the evil eye can also affect other areas of your life.
You can get the evil eye on your home, your car and anything that someone else may be jealous of.
Here are the eight main symptoms of the evil eye:
Physical Symptoms
Physical symptoms can vary when you have the evil eye.
Mood swings and a lack of motivation are also common.
The evil eye energy is burdensome, so it feels like you’re weighed down and your mind is foggy.
A tell tale sign of evil eye is stomach issues, particularly nausea.
It happens with evil eye because you’re feeling energy that isn’t congruent with your own.
I highly recommend wearing an evil eye necklace to protect yourself. The necklace will return that energy back to the person who sent it to you.
I wear mine every day without fail and I rarely deal with this issue.
I recommend checking for evil eye energy if you have general poor health.
If you’ve had the evil eye for some time, it could compound making issues feel worse than they are.
Evil eye energy weighs on you so you may experience a lack of sleep or restlessness.
This is your psyche tries to deal with it.
Unexplained Struggles
Unexpected setbacks are part of personal and professional life. We learn how to adapt and become resilient this way.
We grow, we learn, we move on.
Things go wrong in life, and that’s normal. But, if you’re putting out fire after fire with no end in sight, you may be dealing with evil eye.
A while back, I was dealing with relentless business troubles. They threatened to shut down everything I had built.
When I was at the end of my rope, I thought, “What if this is the evil eye?”
I called my Aunt and asked her to check and sure enough, there was evil eye on my business.
Once she cleared it, the issues began to resolve.
Emotional Distress
The evil eye can worsen emotional turmoil.
Emotional instability is something we all deal with. The evil eye can impact your emotions.
It can make it so that you don’t realize you’re processing energy that isn’t even yours.
Let’s say you’re having a rough day and you share it with someone who has an evil eye.
A while later, you feel worse.
They may be a well-meaning person, but if they have the evil eye, their focus on you is going to send that energy your way.
The easiest way to tell if someone has the evil eye is to notice if something bad happens after you interact.
For example, I had a friend who once told me that something broke every time one of her friends complimented it.
Sure enough, I was at her house one day and my friend was washing a beautiful white platter.
The woman complimented the platter and it shattered in my friends hands in the sink. I saw it for myself!
Observing situations like this is a great way to learn who you’re dealing with.
Financial Difficulties
Financial struggles could be evil eye, especially if they’re sudden.
Unexplained financial losses and unexpected expenses are something to watch out for. You may even wonder what is going on.
That’s a sign to check for the evil eye.
When this was going on for me, I had two tires explode in a month.
And around that same time, I ran over scrap metal on the highway that nearly ripped my bumper off my car.
The evil eye wasn’t on me. It was on my vehicle.
Once we cleared it, the dust settled and I got the repairs taken care of with no further issues.
The inside of your car should always have an evil eye visible. This is my favorite one.
These evil eye coasters are so clever for the car.
Bad Luck
Persistent bad luck could be a sign of evil eye.
The only time I’ve used the term, “bad luck” is when I was dealing with many challenges. It felt like some external force was out to get me.
Sounds extreme but that’s how it felt.
I was dealing with consistent failures and had a sudden decline in my business.
Rather than continue the downward spiral, I checked to see if there was evil eye on me or my business and there was!
There’s no way to know who is sending the energy.
The most important thing you can do is protect yourself and learn to recognize it.
I keep this evil eye amulet sitting on my work desk since I work from home. It would be great in an office too.
Relationship Turmoil
You can have relationship issues with the evil eye.
That type of evil eye energy can put unnecessary pressure and stress on the relationship. This can lead to sudden break-ups in an extreme case.
Personal relationships can suffer from energy that isn’t even part of the relationship. The happier you are, the more you will attract the evil eye.
Be mindful of how much you share about your relationship, and with whom.
This is another type of evil eye protection I like, if jewelry isn’t your thing. You can pin it to anything, including inside your shirt.
Accidents
Unexplained accidents could happen if you have the evil eye. This is because the energy is incongruent with your own.
Evil eye energy can overwhelm you, causing you to make choices you wouldn’t usually make.
You may make choices that are more risky. Sudden accidents could take you by surprise.
I personally haven’t seen anything extreme come from evil eye energy.
I have seen paper cuts, tripping and falling, breaking glass or burning yourself on the stove.
Things like this are a sign that you have evil eye energy affecting you.
The best thing to do is wear an evil eye to protect yourself at all times.
I have a Swarovski piece similar to this one and I get compliments on it all the time.
Mental Fogginess
Evil eye energy affects how clear you feel. My number one sign of the evil eye is when I feel lightheaded or dizzy.
If you practice meditation and it doesn’t seem to help clear up your mind, try clearing out the evil eye.
If you have difficulty concentrating, it’s another tell tale sign of evil eye energy.
So are migraines, especially with persistent pain that aspirin doesn’t seem to help.
I have taken aspirin many times that didn’t help at all.
Once my aunt cleared the evil eye from me, it went away.
Evil Eye Protection
Different cultures will recommend various remedies to resolve evil eye energy.
I’m Greek, and there is a certain way we clear the evil eye we don’t teach to others. It’s part of our culture.
It’s a ritual that a member of the family is taught by another member of the family.
You could ask someone who knows the ritual to clear the evil eye for you.
Or you could work with a practitioner on it.
Our traditional methods including using protective talismans. I like this three part evil eye necklace for that reason.
An evil eye pendant for your front door is always a good idea.
I have one like this hanging on my front door at all times.
Wearing and keeping the evil eye in your space is one of the many protective rituals you can try.
You can also work with spiritual healers to clear the energy if you think it’s affecting you.
I am also trained to clear the evil eye for others and can help you out with this.
Who Can Give You The Evil Eye?
If family members give you the evil eye, it can be more difficult to figure out who it is. We see people for who we believe they are.
You may not want to admit that someone in your family is giving you the evil eye.
Or, you may not be able to understand who it is.
You can also get the evil eye from social media. We live in a world where people share a lot.
If you share online, someone may get jealous or gossip about you and send you the evil eye.
It happens all the time.
Anyone who has an evil eye can send it to you. There are no limits.
They don’t need to believe in it and you don’t need to believe in it. You can still get it.
How to get rid of the Evil Eye
Start with preventing the evil eye so you don’t have to get rid of it in the first place.
This is my favorite evil eye necklace. Here’s my favorite bracelet.
If anklets are your thing, this stack is gorgeous.
Wearing these protective pieces guards your energy against the evil eye.
If you’re not into jewelry, try an evil eye keychain like this. You can attach it to anything you’re wearing to protect yourself.
Protective amulets are the single best way to guard against the evil eye.
If you’ve already got the evil eye, call on Jesus to clear it for you.
I’m not religious, but Jesus is the being that can clear the evil eye.
You can also work with a healer or spiritual person trained in clearing it. Again, this is an ancestral clearing.
I hope this post helped you identify ways to resolve it.
The most important thing to remember is that you can protect yourself so it’s never an issue to begin with.
